This photograph
shows
Assistenzarzt Dr. Trommsdorff, a Schutztruppe medical officer.
He wears the Schutztruppe 1897 grey home uniform but with
the distinctions of a medical officer.
These insignia include a
snake and rod of
Asclepius yellow metal badge on his
shoulder strap, blue collar and cuffs,
blue hatband and edging on hat,
red piping around the
edges of the collar and cuffs, down the front of the tunic, down the
trouser seam and unseen, around the rear skirts, yellow metallic
Litzen on the collar and cuffs (note the large officers Litzen on
the collar) and yellow metallic buttons each bearing the imperial
crown.
